As Del and Mary Ann Benner step into retirement, we pause to honor their extraordinary 31 years of service with Word of Life Evangelism Ministries. Their steadfast faith, tireless dedication, and love for people have impacted countless lives—students, staff, churches, and friends alike. Mainly through evangelism and prayer stations on city streets, the Benners boldly shared the life-saving message of the Gospel.
Del and Mary Ann’s ministry began with a simple but heartfelt question: “Would you consider taking an ‘old’ couple onto your team?” They joined Word of Life Evangelism Ministries and poured their time and energy into proclaiming the Gospel. Over the years, their ministry became synonymous with creativity and compassion—whether it was Del’s balloon animals drawing crowds or their unique Prayer Station touching the lives of thousands.
Del and Mary Ann leave behind a powerful example of what it means to “bring the Lord to the lost.”
Sam Frey, Coordinator of Word of Life Evangelism Ministries, reflected on their legacy:
“Del and Mary Ann were always a steadfast, blessed, and appreciated fixture of our department. They overcame challenges with faith and continually poured their hearts into sharing the Gospel with others. Their encouragement, wisdom, and love for people will be deeply missed, but their influence will remain for years to come.”
In their final newsletter, the Benners shared these heartfelt words as they step into this next chapter:
“You are irreplaceable, incredibly loved, and lavished with gratitude. We truly are blessed beyond description. Thank you, Lord, for allowing us the privilege to do what we love to do.”
Join us in celebrating the Benners and praying for God’s continued guidance in their lives as they continue to walk with Him.
“But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:13
We love you guy! We’ll miss working with you and seeing you in NYC! You are both inspirations!
What a blessing these two have been to the evangelistic ministry here in Florida. As the student ‘hit the streets’ they were armed with ways to open conversations and unique ways to point conversations toward the good new s of Jesus and His saving lives.
Only heaven will reveal the benefits of these lives well lived.
My grand daughters , will never see another balloon and not think of Del……… nor will I.
We always looked forward to the great stories of street evangelism and salvations as they mentored the Florida students on the streets each week.
What a blessing Thank you both for your faithful ministry.
What a blessing this couple is. We love their heart for sharing Jesus and helping others. Dale taught my daughter how to make balloons and she has a love for this skill whenever she has kids around to share with. Thank you Dale & Mary Ann for your ministry for Jesus.
