Fall 2024 at SYME
As the Fall 2024 term concludes at Word of Life Taiwan, it marks a season of remarkable growth, connection, and God’s evident work in the lives of the students. Beginning with a group of 11 individuals, including four returning students, the program witnessed these young people transform from a quiet group into a close-knit community of learners and friends. Their growth – in English skills, teamwork, and their spiritual journeys – was a joy to observe. The most significant moment of the term, however, came when one student decided to place his trust in Christ, a testament to the life-changing power of the Gospel.
A Student Who Found Christ
The most extraordinary highlight of the term was the story of a student who made the decision to trust Christ. Coming into the program, this young man, like many others, was focused on improving his English skills and experiencing the community that SYME offered. Over time, however, he encountered something far deeper – an invitation to know Christ personally. Through the intentional teaching in Bible classes, daily chapels, and the loving discipleship of staff and fellow students, the truth of the Gospel became clear to him.
One day, he shared how he had been reflecting on the messages he had heard and the example of Christlike love he had witnessed in the community. After wrestling with the decision, he expressed his desire to surrender his life to Christ. His testimony is a vivid reminder of God’s power to draw people to Himself.
Growth Through Study, Practice, and Community
Word of Life Taiwan’s SYME program remains rooted in the mission of 2 Timothy 2:15: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” Through Bible classes, chapel sessions, and practical ministry experiences, students were equipped to understand, apply, and share the Word of God. The program’s emphasis on community and friendship provided an environment where students could openly share their lives and explore their faith in a supportive setting.
Looking Ahead
As Word of Life Taiwan closes this chapter, they celebrate the ways God has worked in and through the ministry this term. From the decision of one student to follow Christ to the seeds of faith planted in others, the impact of the program is undeniable. With hearts full of gratitude, the staff look forward to what God will continue to do in the seasons ahead. Thank you for partnering with this ministry through prayer and support. Together, lives are being transformed for eternity.
