In the beautiful state of São Paulo, Brazil, there is a thriving Bible college where students are learning to reach their world for Jesus. Word of Life São Paulo is packed with 214 students this year, and a recent event allowed many more potential students to catch a glimpse of the biblical teaching and discipleship they can experience at this impactful ministry training center.
About Word of Life Ministries in Brazil
Word of Life first came to Brazil in 1957, when missionaries Harry Bollback and Harold Reimer traveled down the Kuluene River to bring the hope of Jesus to the indigenous people of Brazil. Almost seven decades later, Word of Life Brazil has grown into a nationwide ministry with 11 locations! Of these different ministry sites, three are home to collegiate-level Bible programs: Belém to the north, Recife to the northeast, and São Paulo to the south.
Bible Courses in São Paulo
The Bible Institute program in São Paulo is known in Brazil as the CLD, or, “Curso de Liderança e Discipulado” (“Leadership and Discipleship Course” in English). This one-year program is designed to equip young people to grow in their relationship with God through the study of His Word in an environment of ministry preparation.
The one-year discipleship program is not the only educational opportunity at Word of Life in São Paulo. Students with a desire for advanced ministry training can attend non-accredited courses at the Word of Life Biblical Seminary on campus. Topics include biblical counseling, Bible exposition, theology, ministry, Christian living, and leadership. Each class incorporates intensive academic training under the guidance of experienced ministry workers to equip pastors, missionaries, and Christian educators.
Seminary for a Weekend
Recently, Word of Life São Paulo had the opportunity to host 150 guests at a “seminary for a weekend” event. This weekend retreat allowed prospective students to sit in on classes, learn about the courses available, and experience life on campus. There is currently a record number of potential candidates for the program, and many of the people who attended the event expressed serious interest in attending next year.
The team of staff and volunteers on campus are praising God for this opportunity to raise awareness about the Bible Institute program and ministry courses that are offered at Word of Life São Paulo. They are praying that the Lord would bring many of these rising ministry leaders onto the campus, and that He would prepare each of them to reach others with biblical truth – both in Brazil and around the world.

- Pray for the 214 students studying in the Biblical Seminary and the one-year Bible Institute on the São Paulo campus, that God would equip them for ministry in their churches and communities.
- Pray for those who attended the “seminary for a weekend” event, that God would provide the resources and opportunities necessary for them to study at Word of Life São Paulo in the coming year.
- Pray for the 53 million people under the age of 18 in Brazil. Pray that God would use the various Word of Life ministries in the country to reach this generation for Christ.
